Why use a shredding service instead of using our own shredder?
Money! It will cost you 3 to 5 times more to perform in-house shredding than to have a shredding service. The cost of the shredder, labor cost, office space, maintenance, power cost and disposal cost all add up to much more than we charge, and we do all the work for you. Top

Do you recycle?
Yes. We recycle 100% of the paper we shred. Top

How do you charge for your services?
Our pricing is based on a per standard size banker’s box, or, for our regular clients, by the size/quantity of security consoles provided. Top

How do you ensure the security of our documents?
All material is shredded at your location. Our “no-touch” policy ensures your sensitive information is never handled or sorted outside of your office. Your documents are deposited directly into the shredder automatically. Top

Why have our documents shredded on-site instead of having them taken away and shredded by an off site company?
Security. Once your documents leave your location, you can never be sure what actually happens to them or who may see or have access to them. We do not sort your documents nor touch them. You may even witness the destruction process. Most off site companies are really paper or fiber recyclers whose main business is obtaining fiber to recycle. They sort paper according to grade to obtain the highest price. Our shredding equipment is so advanced that it allows us to provide on-site service at off-site pricing. Top

Do you strip shred the material?
Absolutely Not! Strip shredding is a very inefficient method of shredding documents. Material that is strip shredded can easily be reconstructed. Our equipment, uses a pierce and tear method which renders your documents into very small unreadable pieces. Top

Are there any restrictions about what we can we put in your security containers?
No. Any color or type of paper, including paper clips, staples, rubber bands, labels and file tabs. Even 3 ring binders are not a problem. Top

What happens if we need you to come out before our scheduled service date?
We'll come out early. For our regular clients, ShredWay offers a 24 hour service guarantee. Top

Can we reuse our boxes?
Yes, or we can recycle them. Top

Do we need to pay at time of service or can you issue an invoice?
Regular ShredWay clients can pay via an invoice. Other clients can pay via cash, company check, or Visa & MasterCard. Top

Do you issue a certificate of destruction?
Yes. Once your documents have been destroyed, we issue you a Certificate of Destruction for your records. Top

How do I know everything has been destroyed?
You can watch the entire process on a closed circuit TV monitor. Top

Do your employees ever see our documents?
No. Our shredding equipment feeds your documents directly into the shredder. Top

What is the capacity of your equipment?
Our equipment shreds up to 5,000 lbs of material per hour, producing output that is completely unreadable. Top

How do you ensure our security?
We go to great lengths to provide the highest level of security available. We conduct a thorough background check and drug screen on all personnel. In addition, all personnel wear the company uniform, display a picture ID badge and we require a clean driving record. Top

What kinds of security containers do you provide?
We provide a variety of security consoles designed to meet your needs. All security bins and consoles are lockable and provided free of charge for clients seeking regular service. Top

We have files stored that need to be shredded; do we need to sort through them first?
Yes, we can drop off as many lockable containers as you wish before your project begins. Top

Why do you charge by volume instead of by the minute?
Because we want to give the best value to our customers. Using equipment that shreds up to 5,000 pounds of material per hour allows us to service more customers than our competition – allowing us to pass the savings on to you. Charging by the minute protects the shredding company. Most companies who charge by the minute include collection time, and collection time depends on the number of containers, types of containers and the distance between them. Top

What if I only need shredding once a year?
Whether you have 5 or 5,000 boxes, require service weekly, monthly or annually, ShredWay has a service plan for you. Top

Our records storage company provides shredding service...is that sufficient?
Many commercial record storage facilities offer records destruction as a service to their customers. However, in a survey conducted by the National Association for Information Destruction, a majority of the commercial storage firms was found lacking the equipment necessary to provide the service themselves. It is a common practice in that industry to subcontract the destruction of the records. In some cases, disreputable storage firms were found misleading their customers by charging for secure record destruction, while the materials were being sold to a recycling company for scrap. Any business using a commercial records storage firm should inquire as to the nature of the destruction services that are available. It is an unacceptable risk to permit a storage firm to select a subcontractor to provide the records destruction service. The owner of the records is ultimately responsible for their security and, therefore, should be selecting the vendor directly. Top

Should internal personnel be responsible for destroying certain information?
Common sense dictates that payroll information and materials that involve labor relations or legal affairs should not be entrusted to lower level employees for destruction. But, beyond that, competition sensitive information is best protected from them as well. It has been established, repeatedly, that employees are the most likely to realize the value of certain information to competitors. And, lower wage employees often have the economic incentive to capitalize on their access to it. The only acceptable alternatives are to have the materials destroyed under the supervision of upper management or by a carefully selected, high security service. Top

Is information protection a vital issue to senior management?
In a survey conducted by the Conference Board, top executives from 300 companies ranked the security of company records as one of the top five critical issues facing business. When asked which issues required immediate attention and policy development, the security of company records ranked second only to employee health screening. Top
